This season we are working with the wonderful folks over at Asheville Greenworks and Asheville GO to help beautify a large portion of the River Arts District. You will be completing the following challenges:

Challenge 1: You’ll have to plant 3-4 small trees/shrubs/sunflowers along the course. (Asheville Greenworks)

Challenge 2: Take out a large area of kudzu as close to the root as possible after which the professionals will take over – meaning Asheville Greenworks’ right bicep. (Asheville Greenworks)

Challenge 3: Assist one of the local churches with brush removal (it’s already cut – just needs to be hauled where it will be made into mulch) and some simple beautification like spreading mulch or planting a few. . .  well . . . plants. (Asheville GO)

“Challenge” 4: The starting order will be determined by how many cans of food you collect and bring for the MANNA Food Bank. Last years race was won by about 20 seconds. So this could seriously make or break you – just sayin’. Minimum is two cans per person (10 per team). BTW – size matters: Excessively large containers/bags will count for 3-5 cans depending on how awesome your package/can/bag is. It will be up to us when we see it as to what that number actually is. Other Stuff: The event will begin and end at The Wedge Brewery and along the way you will be subjected to water guns, shaving cream and of course “The Circle of Doom!!” I just made that up, but as of now it will forever be in the event and officially be called “The Circle of Dooooooom!!” (with an emphasis on the word Doooooooom) which will require you to maneuver your cart through several obstacles including “The Waterless Human Cart Washer (of Doooom)”, which I also just made up. Essentially humans with noodles who have ingested about twice the amount of caffeine permissible by law. Giddy Up.
