1. Sorry kids -You must be at least 16 years of age to participate.
2. All participants must sign our beautiful waiver or if you’re a minor your parent must be willing to sign our beautiful waiver, which you can download off our beautiful site.
Just print the parent and child’s name and have the parents signature on the form.
3. All participants must be willing to lose their dignity.
4. All participants must read the official rules.
5. All participants must come up with a super cool name for their team.
6. All participants must agree to be responsible for their actions and carts through the course of the day.
7. All participants must be willing to dress up. (It’s not required, but honestly you might look a little weird if you show up in normal street clothing . . . just sayin’)
Each team must consist of 5 runners, a shopping cart and a few tools including at least 1 shovel, 5 pairs of gloves for the dirty work (1 for each person) and 1 drop cloth or piece of plastic to help keep things clean by catch in the dirt when you’re diggin to prep the tree (usually costs about $1 at the store). The race is limited to the first 100 teams.
Important: The starting order will be determined by how many cans of food you collect and bring for the MANNA Food Bank. Last years race was won by about 20 seconds. So this could seriously make or break you – just sayin’. Minimum is two cans per person (10 per team). BTW – size matters: Excessively large containers/bags will count for 3-5 cans depending on how awesome your package/can/bag is. It will be up to us when we see it as to what that number actually is.
The entry fee is $100.00 per team ($20 per person) until May 21, 2010. As of May 22 the entry fee is $120.00 per team ($24 per person). You can sign up the day of the event at the starting line no later than 1:30 PM. If you can let us know that you are coming it would better help us prepare, but we won’t turn you away – especially if you’re super awesome or dressed like The Hoff.
Parking: You will be able to park at the Wedge Brewery Parking lot, but space is limited. We strongly encourage you to car pool as much as possible. There is additional parking on streets in the area.
All proceeds form the event will go towards Asheville Go, Asheville Greenworks, MANNA Food Bank and the upcoming and new community based non-profit The 1 Day Project.
