I know what you’re asking yourself. You’re asking yourself, “What the heck is an idiotarod?!” Well, an Idiotarod is a lot like the legendary Alaskan Sled Dog Race called the Iditarod, which is a dog sled competition that spans over 1150 miles of Alaska’s roughest, most beautiful terrain that Mother Nature has to offer. The Idiotarod is essentially the same thing except we’ll cover like a 5k and instead of dogs we use people (idiots) and instead of sleds we use shopping carts (super pods of wonder), which are extremely energy efficient by the way. So essentially it’s the same, but according to my mom it’s way cooler – and my Mom knows. Though this Idiotarod is slightly different in that participants will have three community project based challenges along the way that they will have to complete. These projects  support Asheville Greenworks, MANNA, Asheville GO and the local community. Proceeds from the event will be shared between Humanavents, The 1 Day Project and Asheville GO.

The Spring Idiotarod will begin and end at The Wedge Brewery and along the way you will be subjected to water guns, shaving cream, tons of other things you can’t even fathom right now and of course “The Circle of Doom!!” I just made that up, but as of now it will forever be in the event and officially be called “The Circle of Dooooooom!!” (with an emphasis on the word “Doooooooom”) which will require you to maneuver your cart through several obstacles including “The Waterless Human Cart Washer (of Dooooooom)”, which I also just made up. Essentially humans with noodles who have ingested about twice the amount of caffeine permissible by law. Giddy Up. The after Party is at the Asheville Brew Company on Coxe Ave. immediately following the event with awards presentations, PhDJ, Beer, Pizza and other things we can’t even imagine. Giddy Up again.

If you do not already have (enough) entertainment lined up for the Idiotarod After Party, I would like to offer my complimentary Dj services for the party. I think it would be a lot of fun and I’d like to support the cause. Visit my site. I stay busy DJing plenty of parties, weddings, and other events and I am always on the lookout for good charitable events to do. Please contact me ASAP if interested – thanks.
